EMMITSBURG, Md. – Behind singles flight victories from juniors Sydney Green and Lauren Dupuis, as well as freshman Kayleigh Hahn, the George Mason University women's tennis team put together a strong weekend at the Mt. St. Mary's Invitational.

Green went a perfect 3-0 to win the 'A' singles flight, while Hahn captured the 'C' flight title. Dupuis was victorious in the 'E' flight. For the talented Green, it marked the first 'A' flight singles championship of her Mason career.

"This weekend marked a good outing for our players," head coach Stephen Curtis said. "Our team went 30-13 against the opposition. We are definitely playing better as our fall season moves on."

Green made quick work of her opening round opponent, taking down Amanda Lanciano (Loyola) in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. She then defeated Ivana Boberic of Siena in two sets (6-3, 7-5) to reach the title match. She then captured the 'A' title with a straight sets victory over Loyola's Kateri Martin (6-2, 6-4).

Hahn dropped the first set of her opening match, 6-1, but rebounded – 6-3, 10-2 – to take down Anessa Leyva of Siena. She then defeated Megan Smith of Mt. St. Mary's (6-4, 6-3) before winning the 'C' title after her Mason teammate, junior Nicole Haigwood, had to retire due to injury.

Haigwood went 2-0 in the flight up to that point, with wins over Megan Gamble of Mt. St. Mary's (6-4, 6-2) and Nanea Perkins of Siena (2-6, 6-4, 10-5).

In the 'B' flight, freshman Brianna Gibbs won the consolation title after defeating Lin Robertson of Loyola in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).

Fellow freshman Hannah Cianciola took second place in the 'D' flight, opening with victories over Loyola's Julie Clark (6-3, 6-1) and Mt. St. Mary's Emma Blake (2-6, 6-0, 10-8).

After a straight sets victory to open her weekend, Dupuis reached the 'E' final with a win over Siena's Anna Phillips (6-4, 2-6, 10-8). She then defeated teammate Sutherlyn Brinn in the final (6-3, 7-5).

Brinn reached the final after wins over Kendall Kutner of Loyola (6-2, 7-6) and Sam Barbato of Mt. St. Mary's (6-2, 6-3).

In doubles action, Haigwood and Hahn combined to win the 'B' flight championship. They opened with a 6-0 sweep of their opponents from Harford CC before upending the Siena team of Phillips/Saki in the semis (6-2). They defeated the Loyola team of Eberle/Clark, 6-4, in the final to claim the flight win.

Mason's team of Dupuis and Christine McCarthy won the 'C' flight, with a trio of victories over opponents from Siena, HCC and Mt. St. Mary's.

The Patriots return to action next weekend at the Loyola Fed Cup in Baltimore (Sept. 29-Oct. 1).
