FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason University women's tennis team will make a short trip north this weekend to take part in the Mt. St. Mary's Invitational Friday through Sunday in Emmitsburg, Md.
Mason will be joined in the tournament by Mount St. Mary's, Loyola (Md.), Harford Community College and Siena.
The event will mark the Patriots' second fall tournament in as many weeks and will provide another opportunity for Mason's young roster to test out doubles pairings and gain experience in singles.
Last weekend, Mason opened the season at the Mary Washington Fall Kickoff and gained valuable contributions from a pair of freshmen.
Brianna Gibbs and
Hannah Yang combined for a 4-0 record in singles and posted a 2-1 mark together in doubles to pace the Green & Gold.
Elsewhere for the Green & Gold, sophomore
Rachel Lee posted a 2-1 mark in singles while junior
Lauren Dupuis and freshman
Hannah Cianciola posted a perfect 3-0 doubles mark in the 'B' flight.
After this weekend, the Patriots will take part in another tournament in the Old Line State. From Sept. 29-Oct. 1, the Green & Gold will take part in the Loyola Fed Cup in Baltimore.
