FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University director of tennis
Stephen Curtis has announced the program's coaching staff for the upcoming 2017-18 campaign.
Curtis will oversee both programs for the 14
th season and Jimmy Davis will enter his third season as the men's associate head coach.
Chris Tran will continue to handle the volunteer assistant coach duties for the women's team, while
Vinh Do and
Mitchell Frank return as volunteers for the men's program.
Mason also will welcome a pair of student assistants in
Andrew Curtis and Ericka Rivero.
The structure of the staff is as follows:

Rivero joins Mason this fall, where she will be serving as student assistant coach while pursuing a master's degree in data analytics engineering. She competed for the University of North Carolina at Asheville from 2012-2016, and during her time at UNCA she played at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in singles and doubles. She also served as the student assistant in the season of 2016-17 while completing her degree.
Curtis returns to his alma mater after completing a strong career for the Patriots in spring 2017. In two seasons for the Green & Gold, Curtis posted a 17-11 record in singles and 20-16 mark in doubles. During his senior campaign in 2016-17, Curtis registered a strong 10-4 record in dual singles action and partnered with current Mason sophomore
Edward Ayers to tally a 15-10 mark in doubles. He was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on March 28, 2017.
The women's program opens the season Sept. 16-17 at the Mary Washington Fall Kickoff, while the men get their season underway Sept. 22-24 at the Navy Invitational.
