TOWSON, Md. – The George Mason baseball team continued its hot streak, winning its fourth straight game with a 10-6 victory over Towson on Tuesday afternoon at Schuerholz Park in Towson, Md.
Mason (22-24, 10-5 A-10) sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven runs on two hits and five walks in the top of the first against Towson starter Alex Cuas.

Tyler Nelin was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sophomore
Greg Popatak II walked to force in Sturek from third to put the Patriots in front 1-0.
Junior
Trevor Kelly then hit a bases-clearing double to the wall in left-center to increase the lead to 4-0. Kelly has driven in nine runs in his last four games and leads the Atlantic 10 with 42 RBI.
After Kelly stole second and sophomore
Alejandro Aponte singled to put runners on first and third, Kelly raced home on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 5-0. With two outs, sophomore
Brady Acker singled to left with Aponte scoring from second base to make it a 6-0 game.
After a pitching change by the Tigers, Smith walked with Acker moving to second. Sturek delivered with a single up the middle, with Acker rumbling across the plate to make the score 7-0.
Seven runs ties for the most that Mason has scored in an inning this season. The Patriots plated seven runs in the third inning in a 21-1 win over VMI on Feb. 19 at Brooks Field in Wilmington, N.C.
Starter
Bryce Nightengale allowed a leadoff single in the first and then baffled Tiger hitters, retiring nine batters in a row from the first inning through the fourth.
Towson (16-26, 4-11 CAA) scored a run in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI single by freshman Noah Cabrera to make it a 7-1 game.
In the top of the sixth, Sturek led off with a single and Driscoll reached on an error, with Sturek going to third on the miscue. Nelin then drove in Sturek with a sacrifice fly to right to extend the lead to 8-1. Nelin has three RBI in the last three games.
Tiger's sophomore Richie Palacios hit a solo home run over the right field fence in the bottom of the sixth to cut the Mason advantage to 8-2. After a single and an error, Nightengale struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
Towson closed the gap in the home half of the seventh, sending eight batters to the plate and scoring four runs on three hits. Mason junior
Timothy Turner walked two batters and then allowed a RBI double and a RBI single as the Tigers cut the lead to 8-4.
Mason made the call to the bullpen and summoned junior
Ryan Ricci to take over on the mound. Towson junior John Drexel swung at the first pitch he saw and drove in two runs with a double off the right field wall to make it an 8-6 game.
The Patriots responded in the top of the eighth, with Nelin driving in his second run of the game with a single to increase the lead to 9-6. With two outs, Kelly drove in his fourth run of the contest with a double off the base of the left field fence and it was 10-6 Mason.
The Patriots have won four straight and five of their last six games.
Kelly went 2-for-5 with four RBI and scored a run. He has knocked in nine runs over the last four games. Nelin finished 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs. Sturek was 2-for-3 with two walks, scored three runs and drove in a run. He has scored nine runs over the last four games.
The Patriots scored 10 runs on 10 hits, recording four doubles and six singles.
Every player in the starting lineup for the Patriots reached base at least twice in the game and seven players scored at least one run. Mason batters walked a season-high 10 times, with seven players issued a free pass in the game. Four of the walks came around to score for the Patriots.
Nightengale (2-3) earned the win. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out five over 6.0 innings in his longest outing of the season. Freshman
Jared DiCesare closed out the game, allowing one hit over 1.2 innings for his team-leading fourth save of the season.
The Patriots are back on the diamond this weekend in Atlantic 10 action, hosting George Washington for a three-game series beginning Friday at Spuhler Field with the first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
