FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason senior
Tyler Zombro has been named to the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 First Team. The All-District Baseball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Zombro, a Staunton, Va. native, is a three-time member of the VaSID All-Academic Team. In addition, he is a three-time Provost Scholar Athlete, has been named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll four times and in 2016 was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.
Zombro has a 5-4 record with two complete games and a shutout in 12 starts this season. He has the lowest ERA (2.58) of any Mason starter and leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in innings pitched (86.1). The Mason right-hander has struck out 52 batters with just 14 walks this season.
To be eligible for the Academic All-District Baseball Team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA. First-team All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, which will be selected later this month.
