SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The George Mason men's golf team finds itself atop the leaderboard after a rain-shortened first day at the Wofford Invitational.
After 15 holes on Monday, the Patriots sit in first place at 7-under, one stroke ahead of Appalachian State. Play was suspended due to inclement weather and the 54-hole tournament has now been shortened to 36 holes. Play will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Country Club of Spartanburg, with golfers finishing up their opening round before starting the second and final round at approximately noon.
Juniors
Eric Edwards and
Brock Kovach led the way for the Patriots on the first day. Edwards is tied for third at 4-under par, with an eagle and five birdies. Kovach is one stroke back at 3-under with an eagle and four birdies.
Senior
Kyle Hart and freshman
Jeff Wilson are tied for 17th. Hart is shooting even-par after 16 holes while Wilson is also at even-par through 15. Freshman
Takahiro Nojima is three-over par after 15 holes and in a tie for 43rd.
Appalachian State is in second at 6-under with Radford (-2), North Dakota State (-1) and Gardner-Webb (E) rounding out the top five.
