FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason University's softball team will play on the road one last time this regular season when it visits rainy St. Louis for a series at Saint Louis University.

The series will begin on Friday night due to the heavy rain that has been hitting the area and will continue Sunday with starting times for games two and three still unclear.

If the weather permits, Mason will try to extend its impressive run of 10 wins in last 12 games, including four-straight. In midweek, the Patriots fought off Georgetown in extra innings with a walk-off double by senior Kat Marsh.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

The Billikens would also prefer the series to be played as they still sit on the outside of the six teams that would make the 2017 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship, which Mason will host. Saint Louis has an identical 7-10 conference record with sixth-place George Washington and won the series against the Colonials a few weeks ago but has a poorer overall record, 18-22.

Saint Louis has won one of its last four games, which was last weekend's series opener against La Salle. The Billikens dominated the Explorers 9-0 in game one but lost the following games 4-3 and 7-5 respectively. Inclement weather then did not allow SLU to rebound by canceling their non-conference game at Southeast Missouri State.

Allie Macfarlane, Alex Nickel, and Mackenzie Peter have combined for 115 of the team's 182 hits and are the only three Billikens who bat above .300. Macfarlane leads the teams with 42 RBI and a .635 slugging percentage.

With a record of 10-11, Maddie Baalman is the Billikens' main pitcher this season. She has started 22 games and has thrown 15 complete games for a total of 139.2 innings, more than half of the team's 278 innings in the circle.
