Final Results
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Three weekends into the outdoor track season and
Michelle Wallerstedt remains unbeaten in the discus.
The senior set a meet and stadium record with a toss of 50.06 meters (164 feet, 3 inches) to win the discus throw and lead the Patriots at the 52nd Colonial Relays over the weekend. A contingency of throwers, jumpers and distance runners represented Mason at the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary at Zable Stadium.
Wallerstedt has won all three discus competitions she has competed in this spring, which has included setting the school record (53.55 meters) at the Hurricane Invitational two weeks ago. At the Colonial Relays, the Omaha, Neb., native threw eight meters further than the next best collegiate thrower. Wallerstedt also took sixth in the university division of the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 43.07 meters (141 feet, 4 inches).
Junior
Shelby Garnand also had a strong day, placing second in the pole vault university division by clearing a mark of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11 ¾ inches). Sophomore
Rachel Forder took seventh in the discus with a throw of 40.77 meters (133 feet, 9 inches). Senior
Junei Mosley finished eighth in the triple jump with a wind-aided leap of 11.43 meters (37 feet, 6 inches).
On the men's side,
Logan Miller (1,500-meter run),
Josh Grant (pole vault) and the 4x800-meter relay team led the charge with second-place finishes. Miller, a junior, placed second with a personal-best time of 3:49.05 in the 1,500. Grant, a freshman, tied for second in the pole vault university division with a personal-best mark of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 ¼ inches).
The 4x800-meter relay team of

Colin Cannon and
Nathan Schulte placed second with a time of 7:43.75. In the 5,000-meter run, senior
Steven Flynn finished third with a time of 14:23.42.
Junior
Pat Hodge took seventh in the hammer throw university division with a toss of 42.88 meters (140 feet, 8 inches). In the shot put university division, junior
Jared Lewis was eighth with a heave of 12.87 meters (42 feet, 2 ¾ inches).
In the pole vault, senior
Logan Besougloff placed ninth after clearing a mark of 4.70 meters (15 feet, 5 inches). Sophomore
Paul Adam took 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:24.07.
The Patriots return to action on Saturday with the George Mason Spring Invitational, their lone home meet of the outdoor season, at George Mason Stadium.
