– George Mason University's softball team will make a short trip Wednesday to visit George Washington for a Revolutionary Rivalry doubleheader.
Led by Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week
Marina Vitalich, Mason is riding on its best streak in three years having won six-straight games, including going 5-0 last week.
The Patriots continued their impressive road form with a sweep series at Rhode Island over the weekend. They have now won four out of their five road games in A-10 play and 6-7 overall outside of Fairfax.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Wednesday's chapters of the Revolutionary Rivalry will close a seven-game homestand for George Washington. The Colonials won three of the first five games of it and are so far 13-8 on their own field this season. Despite winning seven of its 10 games in the last two weeks, on Saturday GW lost 5-2 to Saint Louis to go 1-2 in the home series against the Billikens and drop to 4-8 in A-10.
George Washington has three players on its roster who bat above .350 and who have combined for 146 of the Colonials' hits. Jenna Cone is the team's power hitter with a .390 batting average, producing team-high 51 RBI and 17 of the team's 28 home runs for a slugging percentage of .878.
Sarah Costlow has made 18 starts for GW in the circle this season and has pitched 12 complete games. In 110.1 innings of work, Costlow has accumulated an 8-7 record and a 2.54 ERA.
