Rico Gomez's strong weekend on the track didn't go unnoticed.
On Tuesday, the George Mason sophomore was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer after a pair of second-place finishes on Saturday.
Gomez, a native of Upper Marlboro, Md., enjoyed a successful day at the SPIRE NCAA Division I Track & Field Invitational at the SPIRE Institute on Saturday in Geneva, Ohio. He finished second in the 300-meter dash with a personal-best time of 33.69.
He then anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to a second-place finish with a time of 3:07.99. The 4x400-meter relay team has the fastest time in the Atlantic 10 by more than five seconds and is the 20th fastest 4x4 team in the country.
