Patriots Set to Ring in New Year at The Southern Scuffle

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team will be one of 25 teams taking part in the 2018 Southern Scuffle on Jan. 1-2 in the McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Redshirt senior Ibrahim Bunduka (125), redshirt freshman Victor Echeverria (125), redshirt junior Tejon Anthony (149) and redshirt junior Matthew Voss (285) are scheduled to compete for the Patriots.

The Southern Scuffle includes eight top-25 teams and five top-10 teams, including top-ranked and defending NCAA Champion Penn State. Also competing is No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 5 North Carolina State, No. 6 Lehigh and No. 10 Virginia Tech.

Following the Southern Scuffle, Mason (2-5, 0-1 EWL) is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 6 at the Franklin & Marshall Open in Lancaster, Pa. The Patriots are back at home on Jan. 12, hosting Davidson at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Athletic Complex in Fairfax, Va.
