FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team is back on the road Sunday to take on Campbell at 11 a.m. and Maryland at 3 p.m. at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md.
The Patriots began the season with a 24-13 win against The Citadel last Friday in Charleston, S.C.
Mason (1-0) won the first three bouts to build a 12-0 match score lead.
Ibrahim Bunduka (125),
Jose Tapia (133),
Tejon Anthony (141),
Creed Lumpp (157),
Austin Harrison (184) and
Matthew Voss (285) each earned victories in the match.
"I liked the effort that they gave on Friday at The Citadel," Mason head coach
Frank Beasley said. "I like seeing guys hustling and working for bonus points. Hopefully we can build off that first win and keep rolling. More than the wins and losses right now, it's to focus on the effort and the development match-by-match."
The Patriots begin the day against Campbell at 11 a.m. and then will have some time before facing Maryland at 3 p.m.
"We have a couple of hours break before we wrestle Maryland, so there's a lot of time to regroup," Beasley said. "It can certainly help, but that first match isn't make-or-break. The biggest thing is their effort and seeing them looking to score points from every position."
