SWIMMING AND DIVING at George Washington

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's and men's swimming and diving teams are back in the pool to take on Revolutionary Rival George Washington on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool in Washington, D.C. Diving is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and swimming at 12 p.m.
Mason swept George Washington in the first meet of 2016, turning in a dominant performance last season at the Jim McKay Natatorium. The Mason women's team earned a 166-119 win, while the men's team posted a 183-93 victory over the Colonials.
The Patriots women's team finished first in 10 of 14 events, including three sweeps. Mason owned the podium in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly.Â
Sarah Brallier finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.25) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.17), with
Allison Barahona placing third in both events.Â
Dorothy Reilly took first place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.13) and the 100-yard backstroke (59.13) last season against the Colonials, while
Sydney Fisher won both the 50-yard freestyle (23.50) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.34).Â
The Mason men's team won 13 of 14 events in last year's meeting with George Washington.Â
Steven Craig swam to a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.45).Â
Paul Helfgott finished in first place in the one-meter springboard diving event with a score of 268.28 and placed second in the three-meter event.
