The Patriots participated in the Joe Hunt Invitational at the Naval Academy from September 23-25th. Navy, George Washington, Richmond, Bucknell, Monmouth, Mary Washington, Morgan State, St. Bonaventure, and Delaware formed five compass singles draws, as well as three compass doubles draws in a three day tournament. 

George Mason's play was highlighted by Freshmen Eddie Ayers, who won the B Flight singles tournament after going undefeated through four matches, dispatching two opponents from George Washington, one from Monmouth, and one from Richmond. Pally Ray, Daniel Gutierrez, Alexis Pinsonneault, and Isaiah Volk also had impressive showings as they finished fifth overall in their respective Draws. The patriots finished with an overall 25-21 record through the three day tournament. 

“I was extremely happy with how well the guys competed this weekend, we played against some of the toughest competition in our area and they stepped up to the plate and really showed that their hard work is paying off," said Coach James Davis. "Eddie Ayers knocked off four very talented players back to back to win his flight and showed a lot of resiliency in tough circumstances. Alexis, Isaiah, Pally, and Daniel also dug deep and made a lot of big plays to be able to finish top 5 in the midst of such tough competition. Everyone played well, but we know we still have a lot of work to do, and seeing so many matches in so few days always sheds light on which areas we need to improve, whether it be mentally, physically, or technique and strategy, each of our guys has a game plan personally adapted to what our coaching staff believes will get them to the next level. We're excited to get back to work and keep making improvements.”
