FAIRFAX, Va. – In less than a month, the George Mason men's and women's cross country teams will be off and running again.

The Patriots released their 2016 schedule with four regular-season meets, including the Mason Invitational, plus the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships and the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.

Mason opens the season on Sept. 3 with the Spider Invitational, hosted by Richmond at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va. The Patriots then head to the James Madison Invitational on Sept. 10 at New Market Battlefield in New Market, Va.

The calendar flips to October with the Patriots' lone home meet of the season, the Mason Invitational, on Oct. 1. Mason will once again host the meet at historic Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. The Patriots swept both the men's and women's team titles in 2015.

Mason closes out the regular season at the Wake Forest Invitational on Oct. 14 at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C.

The Patriots then turn their attention to the postseason, starting with the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships on Oct. 29 at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va. Last year, the men finished fifth while the women took 11th.

They'll then compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on Nov. 11, hosted by the University of Virginia at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va. The top two teams receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
