Mason Begins Fall Season With Three Boats at the Occoquan Chase

Elizabeth Kearns Named to Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Mason's Elizabeth Kearns was one of nine rowers tabbed to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team as announced by the conference office today. Kearns just wrapped up her senior season as a Patriot, competing in the Second Varsity 8+.

A three-time Peter N. Stearns Provost Scholar Athlete at Mason for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or greater, Kearns was also an Atlantic 10 Commissioners Honor Roll recipient. Kearns marks the first Mason rower to receive the A-10 accolade since the Patriots joined the league. The award honors student-athletes for their combined prowess in both the classroom and in the boat. The team was selected by a vote of the league's rowing media relations directors.

This past season Kearns helped the Second Varsity 8+ capture fifth in the Grand Final of the Occoquan Sprints after placing third in the preliminary heat. Additionally, the Centreville, Va. native assisted the 2V8+ take fourth in the prelims of the A-10 Championship and claim first place in the Petite Final.
