After two rounds of play at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship the Patriots are in sixth place. Mason is a stroke behind Fordham and three strokes behind fourth place George Washington going into the final round tomorrow at the Villas of Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla
The Patriots carded a team score of 303 (+15), dropping them two positions from their fourth-place after the first round. Dayton is at the top of the leaderboard ahead of defending champion VCU by one stroke.
Sophomore Eric Edwards continues to lead the Patriots with a second straight even par performance in the tournament on the Par 72, 7,024-yard layout. He is one stroke behind leader and A-10 champion Adam Ball from VCU.
The Salisbury, N.C. native got off to a great start recording three straight birdies and was three-under after seven holes, but two straight bogeys dropped him to one-under par at the turn. He would birdie the Par 5 11th hole to get back to two-under par through 14 holes, but finished with two bogeys down the stretch.
After recording a five-over par on the front nine, Junior Kyle Hart bounced back on the back to finish with a three-over par 75. He had birdies on the first three of four holes to get to two-over par through 17 holes. A bogey on the Par 4 18th, hardest hole on the course, dropped him to three-over par for the round and tied for 10th place overall.
Sophomore Ellis Messian scored a four-over par today to move up to 34th overall. The native, birdied both Par 5s on the front to get to two-under after six holes, but bogied the last three on the side to finish plus one at the turn. Senior Mark Folkwein had a tough eight-over par performance on the front nine, but an even-par effort on the back nine left him with an 80 and is tied with Messian for 34th overall.
The final round of the three-day/54-hole Championship will continue Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.
