Fairfax, Va. - Inclement weather in Charlottesville, Va. canceled Wednesday's non-conference game between George Mason University's softball team and Virginia.

On Tuesday afternoon, the threat of rain reduced the initial doubleheader to a single contest which was supposed to be pushed to 5 p.m., but on-and-off rain showers in the area on Wednesday prevent the in-state rivalry between the Cavaliers and the Patriots from taking place.

The cancellation means that Mason will next be in action over the weekend, when the team welcomes Atlantic 10 Conference opponent Saint Louis for a doubleheader on Saturday - including the Go Gold for Tara game - and a single game for Senior Day on Sunday.
