The Varsity 4+ took to the water first thing this morning. The Colonials picked up their first top finish, crossing in 07:53.5 ahead of Georgetown with a time of 08:13.7. Mason took third place with a time of 09:04.2.

Competition grew stronger as the racing moved forward with the Second Varsity 8+ on the water next. George Washington looked to setup an easy first-place for the trophy, claiming its second top finish of the morning. The Colonials crossed the finish line in 07:05. While Georgetown closely followed in 07:13.7. Mason was right behind in 07:21.3.

With GW holding a three and a half point advantage over second place entering the final race, it was still anyone's title. In what proved to be the closest race of the morning, Georgetown claimed first-place over George Washington in the Varsity 8+. The Hoyas battled to the finish line, crossing in 06:55.6 while GW followed in 06:57.0, just narrowly missing the George Cup title. Mason crossed seconds later in 07:12.9.

The George Cup was the final tuneup before the Atlantic 10 Championship for Mason and GW. The teams will meet again in two weeks when the Patriots host the A-10 tournament on Sunday, May 8.
