RALEIGH – The George Mason men's golf team finished the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate in 14th out of the 17 team field. The three round tournament was played at the Par 71 7,358 yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course, hosted by North Carolina State.
Sophomore Eric Edwards led the Patriots with a three-round 223, including a two-under par 69 second round score. Ellis Messian carded two bookend 73s, but the middle score of 79 dropped him to tied for 44th overall. Brock Kovach finished a stroke behind Messian.
Led by senior David Cooke, host NC State team captured the team title. Cooke recorded a career-best score of 198 (-15) to earn a two-stroke victory over No. 22 Adrian Meronk of East Tennessee State. As a team, the Wolfpack posted a three-round score of 831 (-21) to defeat No. 16 USF by eight strokes and No. 21 Virginia by 20.
The Patriots travel to Orlando, Fla for the Atlantic 10 Championship April 29-30.
