OCCOQUAN, Va. – George Mason wrapped up it's first-ever Mason Invite on Sunday after welcoming five schools to Sandy Run Regional Park. The Patriots competed in six dual races.
Mason competed against Delaware in each of the morning races and opened competition just narrowly falling to the Blue Hens in the Varsity 8+. Delaware wrapped up morning competition taking both the Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+.
In the afternoon flight, the Patriots took on Eastern Michigan in the Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+. Mason won the first race in the Varsity 8+, beating out EMU with a time of 06:58.7. EMU came in with a time of 07:04.6. Eastern Michigan took both the Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ to round out dual action.
“It was a great day and we are improving,” commented head coach Ted Nagorsen. “All our boats improved on their times today and I'm happy to see that. I want to thank all the volunteers today who helped make such a special event for us. Now we will focus on the George Cup next weekend.”
Mason returns to action next week hosting the annual George Cup on the Occoquan Reservoir on Sunday, April 24. It will be Mason's last tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championship.
