The Patriots defeated Howard 6-1 on Sunday in Fairfax, Va. In honor of Senior Day, a short presentation was given prior to the start of the match in order to give tribute to six seniors who have helped strengthen the men's and women's tennis programs.

Mason started out strong by sweeping the doubles point in convincing fashion to give them a 1-0 lead going into singles action.

Joe Hill was the first singles match of the day to finish as he defeated his opponent 6-1,6-0. Tanner Baine was next to finish, proving to have too much power for his counterpart leading to a 6-1, 6-1 win. Needing one more match to clinch the victory, Aaron Capital won at number one singles with a score of 7-5,6-4 in a close fought battle against Howard's top player Kaovache. Jimmy Lange was fifth to finish for the day, but dropped a closely contested 3 set battle to Jones of Howard. Luke Maxwell and Giuliano Buzoianu also recorded victories at numbers 5 and 6 singles, giving mason the 6-1 victory overall.

“The guys did a great job of bouncing back after a close loss to Navy yesterday," said coach Jimmy Davis. "We came out with great energy and focus and were able to make a lot of improvements in areas that we agreed needed work. I'm very happy with our progress and believe we're ready for the A-10 Championship next week.”

The Patriots are back in action Thursday, April 14^th at the University of Virginia for the Atlantic 10 Championship.
