Kelehan Tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week

FAIRFAX, Va. – Five games into her college career, Chachi Kelehan is emerging as one of the George Mason lacrosse team's best scoring options this season.

On Monday, she was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week after she scored six goals and dished out four assists in two games last week. Through five games, the freshman from Ellicott City, Md., is tied for the team lead in goals (11), assists (six) and points (17).

In a 16-11 victory over Longwood on Saturday, she set career-highs with five goals and three assists. Her eight points on the day are tied for the third-most in a single game in program history and are the most since Jacquelyn Spalding tied the program record with nine points on March 10, 2015.

Against Longwood, she scored all five goals in the first half on just five shots on goal. Two of her three assists came in the second half, including a dish to Jordan Sdanowich for the game's final goal as time expired. Earlier in the week, she had a goal and an assist in a 15-12 loss to Georgetown on Wednesday, totaling 10 points for the week.

The 5-foot-7 attacker has played in all five games, starting four, and scoring in every contest. She leads the team in shots on goal shooting percentage at a stifling .778 clip, converting 11 of 14 shots on goal. She is second on the team in shooting percentage at .611 (11 of 18).

The Patriots (3-2) return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday with a non-conference battle against Liberty in Lynchburg, Va.
