New Market, MD — The Patriot women's tennis secured their first Atlantic 10 victory of the season with a 7-0 win over La Salle. The match was moved indoors to the Westwinds Tennis & Fitness Center in New Market, Md. due to the weather conditions.
The scoring opened when the Mason doubles teams won 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1 to go up 1-0.
The Patriots quickly went up 3-0 when #1 and #2 players, Brittany Pilkington and Sydney Green, defeated their Explorer opponents in straight sets.
The match was secured when Esu Erdenebat triumphed over Ashley Anderson, 6-0, 6-0. Morgan Yang and Olivia Lacy-Thompson also defeated their opponents without giving up a game. Scarlett Walston made the final score 7-0 was she only dropped one game in her match.
“It felt good to get that first conference win,” commented Director of Tennis Steve Curtis. “Hopefully this will give us some confidence going into our remaining matches”.
