The Patriots knocked off conference foe La Salle 7-0 on Saturday at West Winds Tennis Club. All Three doubles teams won to give Mason a 1-0 lead heading into singles competition.
Joe Hill was the first singles player to notch a win for the Patriots with a strong 6-0 6-3 outing at number two. Jimmy Lange was next to finish with a similar showing 6-0,6-3 at number 3, followed by Aaron Capital with the fourth and deciding point of the match as he beat a tough opponent 7-5, 6-4 at number one singles. Tanner Baine, Daniel Gutierrez, and Giuliano Buzoianu all finished in similar fashion, eventually giving George Mason the shutout win.
“It was great to get our first conference win today,” commented Associate Head Coach Jimmy Davis. “The guys are all continuing to work hard and I'm seeing big improvements every time we step onto the court, we're excited to get back to work and continue the momentum we've been building over the last few matches.”
The patriots are back in action Friday, March 25th in Fairfax against Longwood University.
