Mason fell short 2-5 against a tough Georgetown team Wednesday March 16th in Fairfax, VA. The patriots began the contest winning one of the three doubles matches, but eventually losing the doubles point. Aaron Capitel and Wesley Wong won the sole doubles match for Mason with a 6-4 victory at number 3.
In Singles action, the patriots won at numbers 5 and 6 as Daniel Gutierrez won a tightly contested three set victory 3-6 6-3 11-9, Sophomore Giuliano Buzoianu also won a tightly contested three set match 3-6 7-5 6-4. At number one singles, Aaron Capitel lost to Khanin 6-3 7-6, followed by Joe Hill losing a three set battle 4-6 6-2 6-2 to Lam. Jimmy Lange also lost a three set contest to Beatty 6-2 2-6 6-3, followed by tanner baine dropping the number 4 singles match 6-4 6-2 to Chen.
“Four of the six singles matches went to three sets, and another went to a tiebreaker in the second set, this match could have gone either way today and credit has to be given to Georgetown for playing well on the big points," said coach Jimmy Davis. "I'm happy with how our guys fought out there today and we're continuing to improve with every match we play. Out of every loss we learn new areas we need to improve, so we're excited to get back to the practice courts and prepare for our match against LaSalle on Saturday.”
The patriots face La Salle Saturday March 19th in Fairfax, Va.
