HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – After a lengthy opening day, Eric Edwards has positioned himself near the top of the leaderboard.

The George Mason sophomore sits in a three-way tie for ninth after 36 holes and two rounds on Saturday at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular on the El Campeon Course of the Mission Inn Resort and Club.

Edwards heads into Sunday's final round at even-par 144 (72-72). He rattled in five birdies on Saturday, including four in the opening round as he was Mason's most consistent performer.

Sophomore Brock Kovach is in a tie for 29th after a 5-over 149 (79-70). Sophomore Ellis Messian shot a 14-over 158 (78-80) and sophomore Trevor Tremps finished at 16-over 160 (83-77). The Patriots are in a tie for 12th in the team standings with a 35-over 611 (312-299).

Final round action begins at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start.
