The Patriots men's tennis team dropped their match to No. 3-ranked Armstrong State University, 5-1 at Bacon Park in Savannah, Georgia. Mason falls to 3-7.
Mason's Joe Hill and James Lange picked up an 8-4 win over Alberto Caceres Casas and Jan Porteset for the Patriots only point. The Pirates won the other two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. The No. 2-ranked duo of Pablo Gor and Ignacio Hernandez beat Tanner Baine and Daniel Gutierrez, 9-8 (4), at No. 2 doubles, while Otakar Lucak and Marek Pesicka defeated Andrew Curtis and Wesley Wong, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles.
Armstrong State then picked up three straight-set singles wins to clinch the match. Gor beat Aaron Capitel, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, while Porteset blanked Baine, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles. Pesicka then downed Gutierrez, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
The Patriots will play their final match of Spring Break on Friday against Edinboro.
