FAIRFAX, Va. — Esu Erdenebat improved to a team best 5-2 record in singles this spring but the Patriot team lost 2-5 on Saturday to Davidson at Montclair Country Club.
The scoring opened when the Mason doubles teams lost 6-2, 6-1 and 6-4 to go down 0-1.
Mason's top three, Brittany Pilkington, Sydney Green and Marijke Boers, all battled but lost to their Davidson opponents in straight sets.
At #4 singles Morgan Yang lost in the third set to Gabrille Centenari, the reigning A10 Rookie of the Week.
The singles wins for the Patriots came at the #5 and #6 spots. Erdenebat and Olivia Lacy-Thompson defeated their Wildcats opponents.
“As a team we are competing hard,” commented Director of Tennis Steve Curtis. “I am seeing improvement in many areas but we are still not quite where we need to be with maintaining our intensity and our consistency”.
Mason is right back in action on Sunday as they travel to Richmond to play the defending A-10 champions Rams of VCU at 1:00pm.
