Fairfax, Va. – The George Mason swimming and diving team ended day one of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships, with the women's team in fourth place and the men's team in sixth.
On the women's side, the combination of Dorothy Reilly, Sydney Fisher, Amy Tansill and Marla Albanese finished sixth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.14). In the 800-yard freestyle relay Megan DeJong, Rachel Williams, Steff Maurer, and Reilly earned a fifth place finish (7:26.79).
On the men's side, the group of Niles Biolley, Jesse Burnley, Jackson Hannam and Alec Morin finished seventh in the 200-yard medley relay (1:31.17). In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the Mason men had a strong showing. The combination of Burnley, Biolley, Steven Craig and Vadim Jacobsen finished with a fourth place finish (6:39.04)
Massachusetts is currently in first place on the men's side with 115 points. The Patriots are in seventh place with 67 points. Richmond leads the way for the women with 74 points, with Mason in fourth place with 54 points.
The championships continue Thursday, February 18 with the preliminary events beginning at 10:00am, followed by finals at 6:30pm.
