ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming and diving teams take on Navy and UMBC on Friday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. in Lejeune Hall at the United States Naval Academy.
Returning for the men's team are nine seniors, four juniors and four sophomores. Nine freshmen have joined this year's team. Returning for the women's team are seven seniors, five juniors and four sophomores. They are joined by three newcomers for the 2016-17 campaign.

Navy swept both meets against Mason and UMBC at the Jim McKay Natatorium in the fall of 2015. Navy's men's team posted a 158-123 win over Mason, while the women's team earned a 160-135 victory over the Patriots.
The Patriots women's team earned seven first place finishes. Sydney Fisher touched the wall first in both the 50-yard (23.49) and 100-yard (51.93) freestyle. She also helped Mason win both the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle medley relay. Dorothy Reilly posted a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.55) and Amy Tansill took the top spot on the podium in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.07) against Navy last season.
On the men's side, Alec Morin swam to a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (21.19) and was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed first. Steven Craig won the 400-yard IM (4:05.22) and Matthew Lynch captured the 100-yard butterfly (51.82). Trevor Long won the 3-meter diving event with a score of 252.75.
The first time in the pool this season, the Mason men's and women's swimming teams combined to win 17 of 18 events and finished first at the Potomac Relay Invitational held at American University on Sept. 30.
The Patriots are at home for the first time this season on Saturday, Oct. 15 when they host Delaware at 1 p.m. at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
