The Mason women's tennis team defeated Mount St. Mary's 7-0 today in a dual match held at the Springfield Golf & Country Club. 

The Patriots won the opening point by sweeping all three doubles. The Mason duos of Sydney Green and Esu Erdenebat, Lacy-Thompson and Scarlett Walston, and Morgan Yang and Nicole Haigwood all showed great teamwork in defeating their Mountaineer opponents.

Brittany Pilkington earned the second point for Mason as she outplayed Brittany Poje by the score of 6-1, 6-1. Marijke Boers, Yang and Lacy-Thompson all three defeated their Mountaineer opponents by the scores of 6-2, 6-0.

After losing the first set to the Mounts Kelly Smith, Green battled back to win  a decisive third set tie-breaker 10-2. Erdenebat closed out the match by beating Isabella Draper 6-2, 6-3.

"We moved better tonight,” commented Coach Stephen Curtis. "We also improved the construction of our points and looked much more comfortable in our second match of the spring".

The Patriots improve to 3-1 on the season. 

Mason begins their A-10 matches next Friday as they take on the Richmond Spiders at 2:30pm at Montclair Country Club.
