The George Mason golf team is in 13th place after the first two rounds of the Janney VCU Shootout held at the Country Club of Virginia in Richmond. Mason opened the tournament with a 307 and finished the second round with a 299 team score.
Sophomore Eric Edwards leads the Patriots finishing the first two rounds one-under par at the par 72 6,927 yard course. He is tied for 11th overall going into the final round. Ellis Messian bounced back after an opening round 79 with a one-over par 73 in the afternoon.
James Madison leads the pack after scoring 278 and 289 in the first two rounds, to be 9-under par heading into the final round. East Carolina finished tied with VCU for second-place with a 36-hole score of 576. Chattanooga and Iowa State are tied for fourth at 4-over to round out the top-5.
Maryland's Tom Harris leads the field at 9-under 135 after shooting rounds of 66 and 69. Ryan Cole of James Madison is in second-place at 5-under par followed by Chattanooga's Stuart Thomas in third at 4-under.
The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.
