NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — George Mason's Stuart Lampen-Crowell and George Washington's Miranda DiBiasio have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's & Women's Cross Country Performers of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Also honored were Saint Joseph's Shawn Hutchison, who was named the Men's Rookie of the Week, and La Salle's Kaitlin Poiesz, who was named the Women's Rookie of the Week. The awards were based off performances from meets September 11-13.
Lampen-Crowell, a redshirt senior from Kalamazoo, Mich., battled wet conditions to finish first at the James Madison Invitational with a time of 25:49 (8K). Lampen-Crowell joined four other Patriots in the top 10 to lead Mason to a team victory.
DiBiasio, a sophomore from Berea, Ohio, finished first overall out of a field of 75 runners to lead the Colonials to a first-place tie at the Salty Dog Invitational held at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course. DiBiasio finished the course in 22:51.62 (6K), ten seconds ahead of the next closest finisher. The victory is DiBiasio's first of her career and the first for a GW runner since Angela Ryck in 2013.
Hutchison, a freshman from Blackwood, N.J., took home his second consecutive weekly honor after placing fifth at the Big 5 Invitational with a time of 19:12.2 (6K). Hutchison was the meet's top rookie finisher and helped lead the Hawks to the meet title.
Poiesz, a freshman from Chalfont, Pa., was the top overall La Salle finisher at the Big 5 Invitational placing sixth with a time of 14:25.1 (4K). Poiesz finished just 13 seconds behind the leader and was the highest finishing freshman in the field.
