In the first tournament of the season, the Mason golf team finished fourth at the Navy Fall Classic played at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis. The 10-team 36-hole tournament was won by Princeton, who began the day with a four shot lead and finished at 8-under.
The Patriots finished with a two-day 579 (+11) led by sophomore Eric Edwards (71-70=141) with a one-under par 70 in today's round to notch his collegiate best finish tied for eighth place overall. Junior Kyle Hart (15th) and sophomore Brock Kovach (T16th) each earned top 20 finishes.
The Tigers become the 17th different team to win the tournament title in the 22 years the tournament has been held. Navy freshman Griffin Peters shot the second-lowest round in tournament history with a 63 (-8) in today's round to capture individual medalist honors.
Next up for the Patriots the Janney VCU Shootout scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday.
