Junior Kyle Hart and a pair of sophomores scored even par today to lead the George Mason men's golf team to fourth place after the opening round of the 36-hole Navy Fall Classic Sunday afternoon at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis.
Sophomores Eric Edwards and Brock Kovach, along with Hart are each tied for 11th place overall going into the final round on Monday. Ellis Messian carded a three-over par 74 and Trevor Tremps a 76 to round out the scoring for the Patriots.
With three players inside the top five, Princeton holds a four-stroke advantage over Georgetown, 280-284. The Tigers' 4-under par 280 is tied as the seventh-lowest 18-hole score in the tournament's 22-year history and best since Towson shot a 280 in the opening round of the 2013 Navy Fall Classic. Seton Hall is two strokes behind the Hoyas in third with a 286. Seton Hall's David Cha and Le Moyne's John Clare share the lead with both players shooting a 4-under par 67 in the opening round.
