Women's Cross Country Predicted to Finish Seventh in Atlantic 10

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The George Mason University women's cross country team was predicted to repeat its seventh-place finish from last season in the Atlantic 10 Conference's preseason poll for the upcoming 2015 season.

Duquesne, in pursuit of its third consecutive A-10 title, returns three top 25 finishers from last year's championship including junior Valerie Palermo (third-place), sophomore Jenny Delsignore (10th place) and junior Autumn Greba (23rd place).

La Salle, the 2014 championship runner-up, was predicted to finish second in the poll. The Explorers are led by last year's individual champion and Rookie of the Year, sophomore Morgan Szekely. Szekely went on the finish 169th out of 253 runners at the NCAA Cross Country Championships with a time of 21:40.7 (6K). Also returning for the Explorers is last year's 12th place finisher sophomore Megan Connell.

Richmond, Davidson and Saint Louis rounded out the top five, and were followed by Massachusetts, George Mason, Dayton, Rhode Island, George Washington, Fordham, Saint Joseph's, St. Bonaventure and VCU.

The 2015 Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Championship will be hosted by the University of Richmond at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Va. on October 31. The Cross Country regular season begins on Friday, September 4.
