After setting a personal record with a time of 44.41 in the semi-finals, former George Mason track and field stand out David Verburg won the USA Championship in the 400m dash to qualify for the World Championships.  The PR is also good for the top sport in the nation and fourth in the world. 

Verburg's finals time of 44.63 topped 2008 Olympic Champion LaShawn Merritt, who finished with a mark of 44.66. The World Championships are set to be held in Beijing, China from August 22-30.
