Fairfax, Va—George Mason Athletics and adidas have entered into a five-year strategic partnership. The Portland, Ore. based company will become the official athletic footwear, apparel and accessory brand of the Patriots' 22 Division I intercollegiate sport programs beginning in July 2015.
The comprehensive, multi-year partnership is a first of its kind for George Mason's athletic department. The all-sport agreement will assist in containing costs throughout the athletic department, make branding more consistent and provide additional revenue streams for the University.
“adidas is an industry leader and a brand that we are excited to associate with our athletic programs,” said Brad Edwards, assistant vice president and director of athletics for George Mason University. “Aligning Mason athletics with adidas will not only enhance our student-athlete experience, providing high-quality resources and products, but also play an integral part in enabling us to advance our brand nationally.”
“We're excited about the direction of athletics at George Mason University,” said Jim Murphy, director of NCAA sports marketing for adidas America. “Over the next five years, we'll outfit the Patriots in our newest and most innovative footwear, apparel and uniforms. Our mission is to help athletes perform better and we're looking forward to bringing this winning attitude to all men's and women's athletics at George Mason University.”
