George Mason lacrosse hosts St. Bonaventure Friday night in their second annual “Light the Night” game.
The Patriots ask all fans to wear red to show support for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Mason has been working with the Light the Night Organization since last spring. The team participated in the Reston Light the Night Walk last fall, raising over $5,000.
Mason enters the meeting following an 8-5 win over Richmond Sunday behind the performance of Taylor Carpentier. The freshman earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after snagging 13 saves against the Spiders. Offensively, the Patriots are led by Jacquelyn Spalding with 30 goals and 21 assists. The Riva, Md. native leads the A-10 in total points, which ranks 36th in the nation. Junior Gina Purdue leads the way with 41 draw controls while sophomore Alexa McGovern is second on the team in both goals (25) and draw controls (39).
The Bonnies defeated Saint Joseph's 15-10 Sunday for their first conference win of the season. SBU is led by Mikayla Place with 42 points on 24 goals and 18 assists. LeighAnn Stauffer is next on the squad with 31 points and also leads the team in draw controls with 49 on the season.
The Patriots will wrap up their home slate Friday, April 24 when they host George Washington at 4 p.m.
