Three Patriots Earn Track and Field Weekly Honors

Watts, Briscoe Earn Weekly A-10 Track and Field Honors

Seniors Shavon Briscoe and Talisha Watts earned weekly Altantic 10 track and field honors following Saturday's Mason Spring Invitational.

Briscoe was named Co-Performer of the Week after setting qualifying for the ECAC with a time of 13.41 in the preliminary round of the 100m hurdles. The time is good for the top overall spot in the A-10. The Brandywine, Md. native also qualified for the ECAC in the 400m hurdles, finishing third overall and second amongst collegiate competitors with a time of 1:01.53.

Watts, a two sport athlete from Lynchburg, Va.,earned Co-Rookie of the Week after finishing second place in the high jump with a mark of 1.70m in just her second collegiate track and field outing. The mark qualifies Watts for the ECAC and moves her to first in the A-10 and ties her for eighth on Mason's All-Time list.

 Both the men's and women's teams earned spots on the USTFCCA Division-I regional rankings following a strong outing. The men broke into the top 15, coming in at 13th in the Southeast region. The women come in at 15th.

 Next up, the Patriots travel to the Larry Ellis Invitational this weekend and will send sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers to the Michael Johnson Invitational at Baylor.
