The Patriots tennis team has won five of the last six matches after beating Georgetown 4-3 today at the Mason Tennis courts.
Mason took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. At the top doubles match Jimmy Lange and
Joe Hill beat John Brosens and Peter Beatty 8-3, and the No. 3 team of
Tanner Baine and
Daniel Gutierrez score an 8-3 win over Alex Tropiano and Andrew Dottino.
In singles play Conor Moran gave the Patriots a 2-0 lead with his 6-2, 6-0 win over Shane Korber at No. 5 singles . The lead increased to 3-0 after Daniel Gutrerrez beat the Hoyas Andrew Dottino 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6 position. Jimmy Lange clinched the team victory for the Patriots beating Daniel Khanin 6-4, 7-5 at No 1 singles.
“Georgetown always fields a strong team," said Coach Quam. "Last year they hammered us in singles. Today we were prepared, and our guys earned this win with good hard, focused, tennis."
The Patriots travel to George Washington on Saturday April 18 for a 3:00 pm match.
