The George Mason men's tennis team fell to Davidson as the Wildcats earned a 6-1 Atlantic 10 win at the Covington Tennis Courts in North Carolina. They remained perfect against the Patriots (3-5, 0-2 A-10) at 3-0 since 1988.
Mason took the doubles point after winning the top two matches. The Patriots top team of James Lange and Joe Hill defeated the Cats team of Khrapko/Hager, 6-1. The matches at No. 2 and 3 doubles were well contested each with a 7-6 mark, the Patriots winning at No. 2 as Daniel Gutierrez and Tanner Baine defeated Gough/Hart.
The Wildcats won all six singles matches, two of the matches went the distance. At the top singles, James Lange won the first set, but Davidson's Shamael Chaunhry came back to run off 6-1 and 6-4 wins in the next two sets. Mason's Baine won the first set in his match at No. 5, but the Cats David Hager won the final two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
The Patriots continue on their Spring Break trip traveling to Hilton Head for four matches this week.
