A second half surge was not enough for the Patriots Wednesday as they fell 11-9 at Georgetown.
The Hoyas scored seven unanswered goals in the first half before the Patriots got on the board. Mackenzie Jones converted a free position shot before Alexa McGovern found the back of the net to send Mason into the break, down 7-2.
Melissa Lobaccaro started the second half scoring off a free position shot followed by a goal from Jacquelyn Spalding, cutting GU's lead to 7-4. Alexa McGovern netted an unassisted goal between two Hoya goals before Lobaccaro ignited another 4-0 Patriot run to tie things at 9-9 with 14:41 remaining. However, the Hoyas responded with two unanswered to secure the win.
Spalding, Lobaccaro and McGovern led the Patriots with two goals each while freshman goalkeeper Taylor Carpentier registered nine saves.
Next up, Mason continues the road trip at Longwood Tuesday afternoon.
