In very chilly temperatures the women's tennis team defeated Morgan State 4-0 this afternoon. The Patriots move to 11-7 on the season with the triumph.
"I was impressed by Morgan and Marijke stepping up to #1 doubles and winning an important point for us," remarked head coach Steve Curtis "Morgan State is a solid team so getting the doubles point got us off and running."
After garnering the doubles point and a default in the #6 position, Mason was up 2-0. Olivia Lacy-Thompson quickly won her match over Riana Roberts to make the third point. Esu Erdenebat secured the win when she defeated Jasmine Edwards.
Due to the cold temperatures the other matches were stopped once Mason had won the match. Jane Awad had won the first set at #1 over Chelsi Russel when the match was called. Yang and Boers had each lost their first sets to their Bear opponents.
The women's tennis team will head to Bucknell on Saturday before returning home to host Christopher Newport on Sunday at 1:30 pm.
