Two Patriots earned Atlantic 10 Conference recognition in track and field following a strong weekend to open outdoor competition. Freshman Taylor Sharpe received women's Rookie of the Week while sophomore Bernard Freeman was named the men's Performer of the Week.

This marks Sharpe's third Rookie of the Week nod as the Ontario native received the honor twice during the indoor season. Sharpe opened outdoor competition finishing first amongst collegiate competitors in the 200m dash at the VCU Ram Invite with a 24.62 finish. The time is good for first in the Atlantic 10.

Freeman holds the top spot in the A-10 in the men's 200m dash, finishing fourth overall and second amongst collegiate competition at VCU with a time of 21.89. The Raleigh, N.C. native also helped the Patriots to a third place finish in the 4x400m relay.

Mason continues outdoor action this weekend with the Raleigh Relays.
