Two Patriots earned Atlantic 10 recognition after George Mason lacrosse took wins over Furman and Wagner last week. Sophomore midfielder Alexa McGovern earned her first A-10 Player of the Week nod while freshman goalkeeper Taylor Carpentier was voted Rookie of the Week.
McGovern scored five goals in the Patriots 11-10 win over Wagner. The Sykesville, Md. native scored Mason's last three goals including the go-ahead score with 31 second remaining in regulation. McGovern registered seven goals and four draw controls as the Patriots finished 2-0 on the week.
Carpentier registered 20 saves on the week, with eight against Wagner including a save with less than 10 seconds to play to secure the win. Earlier in the week, the Garden City, NY. native snagged 12 saves in Mason's 18-8 victory over Furman.
The Patriots host Liberty Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the home opener at the George Mason Stadium.
