FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team ended its regular season with duals against #14 Northwestern and American University on Saturday.
The Patriots hosted their final dual of the season on Saturday morning at the RAC, welcoming the 14th ranked Northwestern Wildcats. Northwestern was able to win the dual 31-12 with Mason gaining points at 157 and 174lbs. via forfeit. Blake Roulo battled #3 Jason Tsirtsis to a 9-2 decision at 149lbs. along with Vincent Rodriguez and Patrick Davis who also lost in close decisions, 6-3 and 4-0, respectively.
Mason moved on to Washington, D.C. for an afternoon dual vs. American in the nation's capital where the Eagles were able to edge out a 21-16 victory, putting Mason's dual record on the season at 10-12. After falling behind 9-0, Sahid Kargbo and Blake Roulo bounced back from morning losses with victories over Michael Sprague (11-2) and Tom Page (10-6).
American would win four of the next five, excluding Patrick Davis' 19-4 technical fall over Cole Moseley at 165lbs. Jake Kettler also received victory in the dual, majoring Chris McDermand 10-1 at heavyweight.
Next on the schedule for the Patriots are EWL Championships in Lawrence Township, N.J., hosted by Rider University. Competition begins and ends in all day affair on Saturday, March 7.
