Schedule Changes for Baseball This Weekend; Game Friday Canceled

**Friday's contest against Western Carolina has been canceled**

Coming off its first week of competition in Port Charlotte, Fla., the George Mason baseball team returns with two scheduled games in Wilmington, N.C. for the Hughes Bros. Challenge.

Mason enters the weekend with a 1-2 record after shutting out Kansas State 5-0 before falling to Ohio State and Iowa last weekend. After Friday's cancellation, two games remain on the schedule for Saturday against Wake Forest (10:30 a.m.) and UNCW (3:00 p.m.).

The Deamon Deacons are 2-2 to open the season, also playing three games in North Carolina last weekend. Wake Forest defeated Delaware and VCU however fell to Bucknell, 16-12. They have already began play this weekend in a game against UNCW on Wednesday, falling 10-3. Stuart Fairchild has one homerun and three RBI along with a .538 average, all leading the team. John Williams goes for second win of the season for the Patriots after throwing seven shutout innings in a 5-0 victory over Kansas State.

The Seahawks have won all three of their games this season, including a 7-2 win over Richmond and a 4-2 win over Ball State to go with the victory over Wake Forest on Wednesday. UNCW has six players batting at least .300, led by Corey Dick who has is a .500 average with two doubles and three walks. Ryan Foster earned the victory over Ball State as he threw five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. Jake Kalish returns to the mound after tossing six innings, allowing one earned run and only four hits.
