NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Senior John Williams has been named the Atlantic 10's first Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Williams earned his first win of the season along with Mason's first victory of the season when he tossed seven shutout innings in a 5-0 win over Kansas State. The right hander allowed four hits and struck out six batters in his seven innings of work.

The Patriots (1-2) continue the season on Friday, February 20 in Wilmington, NC for the Hughes Bros. Challenge. Mason opens the weekend against Wake Forest at noon on Friday.
